Interesting story behind this. The forestry club president told the parade organizers not to put them near any band because they have chainsaws and the like. she told him it didn't matter, nobody cares about the band anyway. the sawing they were doing is the same as they have done in the parade for the past twenty years (the story you linked is a bit exagerrated). for one week the local paper has published negative letters to the editor about the department and the event; one week ago the forestry president sent an apology letter to the missoulian which is yet to be published. locals have now started a letter writing campaign against the department. the japanese conductor said he didn't even hear the chainsaws. now there are administration issues because senator burns (R-MT) earmarked a new forestry building for us in the new energy bill...now to be cut in the wake of katrina.

You mean the media got this wrong?

I was suspcious too because I thought all you Foresty majors hugged trees not cut them down.

Hasn't your campus outlawed chainsaws yet? How barbaric!

They don't hug trees, they hug bunnies. They *worship* trees.
