Not exactly Steve Irwin...

Some time ago, the family went to a Croc farm in Tainan. The croc you see in the photo weighed about 1250 kg, according to the guide. He also said it was safe to sit on the croc, because it was too fat to move. I still didn't get too comfortable, just in case he had one last lunge left in him.

"Bradenia"

Baseball fans will enjoy this one. Maybe map lovers too. If you like both then this is for you! All others will be confused.

A Rod pisses off yet another ball player.

Baseball etiquette aside this is hilarious.

Oil Stones

Ca. mid last century the Soviets built a city in the middle of the Caspian to drill for oil. Since the discovery of oil in Siberia the place has been largely forgotten though apparently people still live there. Scroll down for a rousing video tribute to the city in the sea.

This pic makes me think of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri. Remember the crazy white haired professor character that looked like a scientific hippy version of J Hole? Baikonaur!

I forget the name of the road but we used to play at Fat Boy's near Asia Link.

Fresh Water Crustacean

We discovered this little guy a couple of weeks ago on our first trip to the cottage. There was still snow on the ground so we had to hike in.

It was in about a foot of icy water on the edge of the lake, dead but perfectly preserved. About the size of my hand, it has deep blue claws that seem almost too big for its prawn like body. I've been going to this lake my entire life but have never seen one before.

Freshwater rock lobster? Super claw prawn lobster? Crayfish?

Can anyone put a name to this thing?
