Yankees pitcher, Wang Chien-Ming (王建民), has stopped giving interviews to theTaiwanese media for the time being because of their hounding of his parents. Reporters moan that he is abusing freedom of the press.
Well maybe they won't stand up for their own country, but put some oil around some rocks in the ocean with all kinds of yummy, edible sea-things and they'll have their headbands on, chanting a most uninspiring protest chant, 抗議 (literally, protest) faster than Air Supply can sell out the Taipei Dome. Several Taiwanese activists went to a group of disputed islands, the Diaoyutais, to assert claims of sovereignty for Taiwan / China / Greater China? Uh, well...just NOT Japan! Armed with a strong sense of country but not much sense, the warriors (rocks they brought along), lost the naval contest with the Japanese coast guard (guns, rifles, exploding things).

what a load of crap
Load of crap? Come on, that's so cliche. And you an English teacher. How about Fountain of Feces or Cavern of Caca or the simply elegant Pile of Poo?
An emergence of emesis?
And which part of the post are we talking about? 'Cause I've kept that same English language drivers' handbook around my house for about five years, always planning to post some of the funnier bits. But I suck and I never got around to it. Good call, J-hole.
it still hasn't changed and i am still trying to get my licence...
Here's the simplest way to pass these tests...don't think about the reality of Taiwan in 2006, just ask yourself, "What would Chiang Kai-Shek want me to do?"
So, when they ask the question about where to get in taxis:
a. anywhere convenient.
b. at intersections
c. at taxi stands
you know the answer must be C.
Should drivers dress neatly and professionally?
Must be True!
My favorite was "If you are driving a tanker truck carrying explosive materials, where should you park:"
a. Basement of a building
b. street
c. open, well ventilated area.
Now, this is tricky, because like in Iraq, the answer is A or C if security is too tight, but in Taiwan the answer is C.
When the tire blew of that car august and I had , yuri jumped out of the drivers seat with a heinken , it was not an issue , he explained to the police that it was only his third beer... They have licenses in Taiwan?????
