Things for today...

Part of the mostly inane conversation at FuBar was Roger Clemens signing with the Yankees. Was it purely for the money? Or the best chance to win the World Series one more time? I figure must have been a combination of both. I'm pretty sure the Sox would have offered similar money, and equally sure the Rocket isn't having a problem putting food on the table for his family. So to Clemens, The Evil Empire was the way to the Series. PIMP was screwed either way. Too bad for his beloved Jays. On another (fantasy) baseball note, the Shiretowners got their asses hand to them AGAIN, by the mighty Marauders. Next on the menu is the Stros, from parts unknown.

Nice post by the Hole. Standards are standards and, unfortunately, some people don't have any. BUT, the cook-off was a great day, and I got really drunk. Thanks to my Winnie, Gwen and Smrt Angie for taking care of things.

Regarding the failure of the USA and Iran to talk about Iran's nuclear program, and Condi's comment that she doesn't "run after anybody": Way to let pride stand in the way of solving problems.

Here's a HOWIGATI

A hot, half naked chick with beer. Throw in a big bag of Northern Lights #5 and hockey on the big screen, ain't that heaven?

KITT, get me another beer

AND, born on this day, master thespian, Traci Lords. Striking a blow for women's rights.

Funny how you never consider that maybe Iran could talk to the USA without letting their pride stand in the way. (only a one way street I guess...)

We've offered many times to talk with Iran if they only suspend enrichment during the talks. Suspend only, note. No dice.

The EU-3 have also offered Iran a huge number of incentives including a free reactor and fuel, but again, no dice. Oh, and they made it explicit that the USA would join those talks.

Iran can also look at the Libya case to see that, yes, if you talk and disarm your nukes, wow, the US will recognize you, open an embassy, and remove sanctions. Oh, and talks with North Korea are "progressing" as well.

IMO, Iran has no excuse not to come to the table if they are truly serious about wanting peaceful nuclear power and not a bomb.

Hmmmm, maybe Iran simply wants a bomb and won't talk seriously because they value it more than any agreement they could get?

p.s. Other than the above complaint, the post was a good one. Except for the fantasy baseball stuff, too. ;)

I thought Iran offered some kind of plan for talks back in 2003 and the U.S. blew them off. Or did I dream that?

Here's a novel approach: Maybe Iran and the U.S. are both to blame. Maybe they've both made honest attempts at a settlement at one point and screwed up at others. Maybe it's not always one side that's always at fault. Maybe they both have obstinate leaders that need to move on before this gets settled and maybe not. Maybe the democrats don't have a clue either.
There's a new term called "conservative correctness" which describes the process of conservatives taking any republican who dares to disagree with the White House and throwing them under the bus. Maybe these loyalist who represent 35% of the vote are shooting themselves in the foot. Maybe there's a voice of reason out there somewhere and maybe noone will ever hear it because the lefties and righties are too "correct" to let anyone disagree with the party line. Maybe both sides are spending too much energy trying to suppress the freedoms that they both supposedly hold so dear. And maybe despite all of these idiots, it's still the best damn country in the world, or why else would Canucks and Europeeners feel the need to constantly dump on it. Of course maybe i'm wrong and one side is 100% right.

Never said the blame was on USA, both are at fault for not talking about it, if they truly want a resolution. just seemed to me that Ms. Rice was very flippant about it. USA is a great country, and i don't constantly dump on it, just the idiots currently running the show. everybody makes mistakes, and when you do, the smart thing might be to try to fix it, instead of insisting you are right and keeping the same course.

Sorry Mendoza. I was a bit over the top with that. One of the striking things I've noticed since being back, is how reactionary everyone's become when discussing any idea contrary to their party's agenda. Without realizing it, the republicans have turned into the democrats of the early 90's and now our government can best be described as an "idiocracy" I hope it gets fixed sooner than later. And how about the idea of a half naked Traci Lords serving you that beer? That's an idea we could all rally around!!
